The Rules of The Japanese Association of Regenerative Dentistry
                                      (laid down on October 14, 2003)

Chapter 1. General rules

Article 1. Designation

The Association shall be called the Japanese Association of Regenerative 
Dentistry (JARD).

Article 2. Objective

The objective of the Association shall be to promote the development of 
]regenerative dentistry and the diffusion of knowledge thereof, and to 
contribute to the development of academic research, clinical applications, 
education and related industries.

Chapter 2. Activities

Article 3. Activities

The Association shall be engaged in the following activities in order to 
attain the objective stated in Article 2:

(1) Holding of meetings for reading research papers and lecture meetings
(2) Holding of lecture classes, field trips and social gatherings
(3) Publication of journals, academic books, membership lists and other 
    material
(4) Research studies
(5) Contacting and cooperating with related learned societies and 
    organizations
(6) Other activities necessary for attaining the objective stated in 
    Article 2

Chapter 3. Members

Article 4. Members 

The Association shall comprise the following members:

(1) Regular members
Those who have expertise and experience in regenerative dentistry and 
agree with the objective of the Association

(2) Corporate members
Corporations or organizations agreeing with the objective and activities 
of the Association

(3) Honorary members
Those who have contributed enormously to the attainment of the objective of 
the Association and have been recommended by the Executive Board for 
honorary membership

(4) Student members
Students such as undergraduates, graduates, foreign students and vocational 
school students who agree with the objective of the Association

(5) Overseas members
Those who live overseas and agree with the objective of the Association

(6) Subscription members
Libraries or bookstores subscribing to the journals published by the 
Association

Article 5. Admission to the Association and membership fee

1. Admission

Admission to the Association shall be subject to approval by the Executive 
Board upon the submission to the Secretariat of a prescribed membership 
application together with the admission fee and the annual membership fee. 
The admission fee shall be 1,000 yen.

2. Membership fees (annual) shall be as follows:

(1) Regular member: 3,000 yen
(2) Corporate member: 20,000 yen for each membership
(3) Student member: 2,000 yen
(4) Overseas member: Shall be specified elsewhere.
(5) Subscription member: 3,000 yen

3. Reimbursement of the membership fee

The membership fee received shall not be reimbursed for any reason.

Article 6. Forfeit of membership

1. Any membership of the Association shall be lost in any of the following 
cases: 

(1) Notice of withdrawal from the Association has been submitted.
(2) Death of the member.
(3) Failure to pay the membership fee. If this is the case, the member shall 
    pay the membership fee for up until the year before the forfeit of 
    membership.
(4) In the case where the member has acted contrary to the Rules or Bylaws 
    of the Association.
(5) In the case where the member has interfered with any activity of the 
    Association or committed an act seriously impairing the reputation of 
    the Association.

Article 7. Association Prize

At the recommendation of the Executive Board, the Chairman shall award an 
Association Prize to any member who has been recognized as excellent in the 
academic field of the Association. 

Chapter 4. Members of the Executive Board

Article 8. Members of the Executive Board

The Association shall have the following members of the Executive Board. 
The method of their selection shall be provided for elsewhere.
(1) 1 Chairman; (2) 1 Vice-chairman; (3) a small number of the Board members; 
(4) 2 auditors

Article 9. Duties of the members of the Executive Board

(1) The Chairman shall represent the Executive Board, supervise the tasks
thereof, and convene and preside over the Executive Board and the General 
Assembly. 

(2) The Vice-chairman shall assist the Chairman, and in the case of the 
absence or disability of the Chairman, the Vice-chairman shall act as substitute 
for the Chairman.

(3) The members of the Executive Board shall organize Board meetings, and discuss 
and decide on the agendas to be voted at the General Assembly and other important 
agendas indicated by the Chairman.

(4) The auditors shall inspect the details of the activities and audit the 
accounts.

Article 10. Term of the members of the Executive Board

The term of any member of the Executive Board shall be two years from April 1. 
The term of any member installed as a substitute shall be the rest of the term 
of the predecessor. 

Chapter 5. Meetings

Article 11. Categories of meeting

The meetings of the Association shall comprise the General Assembly, the meeting 
of the Executive Board and the Committee meeting. Other meetings shall be set up 
by the Chairman.

Article 12. The General Assembly

(1) The General Assembly shall comprise the Regular General Assembly and the 
    Extraordinary General Assembly.

(2) The General Assembly shall be held once a year and the Extraordinary General 
    Assembly shall be held whenever necessary.

(3) The General Assembly shall be composed of all members of the Association, and any 
    agenda shall be decided by the majority of the attendants thereat.
 
Article 13. Agendas to be referred to the General Assembly

The following shall be decided by the General Assembly: 

(1) Modification of the Rules of the Association
(2) Activity plan for each fiscal year
(3) Admission fee and membership fees
(4) Modification of the members of the Executive Board
(5) Budget and settlement of accounts
(6) Other important agendas

Article 14. The meeting of the Executive Board

The meeting of the Executive Board shall be composed of the Chairman, the Vice-chairman 
and the members of the Executive Board, and shall be held by the Chairman.

Chapter 6. Assets and accounts

Article 15. The assets of the Association shall be as follows:

(1) Membership fees; (2) Earnings from its activities; (3) Contributions and other 
earnings

Article 16. A fiscal year of the Association shall begin on April 1 of a given year 
and end on March 31 of the next year.

Rules on Prizes

Article 1. Purpose

An Association Prize shall be awarded to any member who has been recognized as excellent 
in the academic field of the Association, as provided for in Article 7 of the Rules of 
the Association.

Article 2. Categories

The categories of the Association Prize shall be as follows:

(1) The Association Prize of the Japanese Association of Regenerative Dentistry: Shall be 
awarded to any member who has rendered remarkable services to the activities of the 
Association.

(2) The Treatise Prize of the Japanese Association of Regenerative Dentistry: Shall be 
awarded to any member who has presented an excellent paper in the Journal of the Association.

(3) Other prizes determined by the Chairman of the Association and the Chairman of the Congress

Article 3. Selection

The qualification criteria for and the method of the selection for each prize shall be provided 
for separately by a bylaw.

Article 4. Official commendation

Prizes shall be awarded to each winner at the General Assembly, at academic lecture meetings, 
etc., for each fiscal year. 

Article 5. Alteration or abolition

The alteration or abolition of any provision hereof shall be subject to the decision of the 
General Assembly.

Supplementary provision:

The Rules hereof shall become effective on September 4, 2004.


Bylaw on the Association Prize

1. Purpose

In order to award those who have been recognized to have rendered distinguished services to 
the activities of the Association, this Bylaw has been laid down.

2. Qualified persons

Those who have rendered distinguished services to the academic research, educational activity 
or academic activity related to the Association.   

3. Method of selection

An Awards Committee comprising five members of the Executive Board appointed by the Chairman 
shall be set up and shall decide the candidates for the Prize by the votes of the Committee 
members, and the winner shall be approved by the Executive Board. The Awards Committee shall 
be dissolved after giving the Prize.

4. Official commendation

The Chairman shall give the winner of the Association Prize a testimonial.

Supplementary provision:

The provisions hereof shall become effective on September 4, 2004.

Bylaw on the Treatise Prize

1. Purpose

This Bylaw has been set up for the purpose of awarding those who have presented papers recognized 
to display academic excellence in the academic field of the Association. 

2. Qualification

Those who are entitled to the Prize shall be members of the Association and chief authors at the 
time of the publication of the paper in the Journal of the Association and at the time of winning 
the Prize.

3. The method of selection

The Selection Committee for the Treatise Prize, comprising the members of the Editorial Committee, 
shall be set up and the winner of the Prize shall be decided upon taking into consideration the 
results of the votes by the members of the Association. The Selection Committee shall report the 
results of the selection together with the reason thereof to the Chairman for approval.

4. Official commendation

The Chairman shall give the winner of the Treatise Prize a testimonial.

Supplementary provision:

The provisions hereof shall become effective on September 4, 2004.

Bylaw on the Editorial Committee

1. The Editorial Committee

The Editorial Committee shall be set up and the Board member in charge shall serve as the Chairman 
of the Committee. The Chairman of the Committee shall appoint the members of the Committee.

2. Published matters

The Japanese Association of Regenerative Dentistry shall publish the following journals, books and 
electronic media:

(1) Journal of the Japanese Association of Regenerative Dentistry
(2) Journal of Oral Tissue Engineering
(3) Other journals and books

3. Distribution of the Journals

Journals printed in both Japanese and English shall be distributed to all members free of charge. 
Nonmembers can buy the Journals at the price fixed by the Editorial Committee.

4. Copyrights

As a general rule, the Japanese Association of Regenerative Dentistry shall have the copyrights 
for all the publications published by the Association.

Supplementary provision:

The provisions hereof shall become effective on December 30, 2003.

The following guidelines have been set up because we think that extreme care should be paid to 
the contents of our website (in terms of ethics and social effects, above all in terms of the 
prevention of crimes):

1. The purpose of establishing our website is to inform the members of the Association and other 
people of the Association and to contribute to the further development of the research area, 
educational area and clinical area of the Association. The website shall not be used for other
purposes, e.g. for commercial use.

2. Personal and contact data on the regular members of the Association, such as names, addresses, 
phone numbers and e-mail addresses, shall not be posted on our website with photos from which 
individual members can be distinguished.

3. From the viewpoint of crime prevention, drawings, etc. of the buildings related to the 
Association, from which the inside of the buildings can be easily imagined, shall not be posted 
on our website.

4. Any and all matters infringing the laws, ordinances, etc. related to copyrights, portrait r
ights, intellectual property rights, etc., any and all matters offensive to public order and 
morals, any and all discriminatory descriptions or instigations and any and all immoral matters 
such as cruelty to animals shall not be posted on our website.
